The Commonwealth's history is, as most things humans are involved in, mottled with mistakes, oppression, ignorance, and controversy.  It is also, however, a history of learning, celebration, endurance, and understanding.  Often seen in nations around the world, even within these nations, is a struggle to understand each other and promote good acts of civility and a drive to forgive past indiscretions.  Though the benefits being a citizen in this organization vary between states, the clear hope and goal of the organization and its leadership is to promote universal suffrage and celebrate diversity throughout the world.  As this global family continues to promote good works among themselves and benefit mankind, it deserves a brief moment to consider that this movement towards global citizenship rose from the dredges of imperial oppression and discrimination.  The past of the organization should not be forgotten, but the meaning and drive of the movement towards equality should be celebrated.
